800 Miles Away from the Ocean and Loving It!

Me in Lamb's Canyon

This post has been a long time coming. I grew up in California, and it will always hold my heart. I love the beach and the foothills and the warm reservoirs. I love the Sierra Nevadas, they are beautiful! But after 20 years of living in Utah, I have to say that I love it. I love that I live in a thriving metropolis, with mountains minutes away. Big mountains. I love hiking and discovering how green these mountains are when you get inside them. I love hiking to peaks and seeing how all the peaks are actually quite close together. I love seeing the clouds gather around the mountains and seeing rain or snow depending on the time of year. I love being up in the mountains and seeing the clouds clear and beautiful views. I love skiing. I love rock climbing (provided there are no tarantulas). I love seeing the beauty of this earth God created for all of us.

Steve and I just went on a hike this last Saturday. Many of the leaves had already fallen and we were on snow in some parts. I probably have few days left of hiking weather. But that is fine. It's just time to pull out the skis and tune them up because the resorts are scheduled to open at Thanksgiving.

So, I still love the ocean. I love the to watch the power of the waves. I love playing in the water. I'm just saying that my heart has expanded. I can love California and Utah. They don't have to compete for favorite. They can peacefully coexist in my heart (and I might as well throw Hawaii in there).
