Max was upset when a wave got him wet up to the waist,
but Leah was happy being placed in the sand.

Becca, Cara, Maddie and Alyssa hang out on the rock.

George and Cara pause for a pic after exploring tidepools.

After Leah found out she loved sand so much, she explored
all surfaces with her mouth.

Okay, so it's been awhile, but it's kind of hard to update my blog when I pull it up and the first thing I see is Kauai. It kind of makes me want to go back and then I don't want to update about real life. But here goes...

In the last six weeks, we have enjoyed a trip to California. It was spring break and we decided to visit my parents and sisters. A fun discovery was seeing how much Leah enjoyed sand. Most babies put sand in their mouth and start crying and never touch it again. Not Leah. She loved it. She ate it. I couldn't stop her from eating it. Baker Beach in San Francisco was Leah's first experience with sand. She kept eating it. We tried to stop her. Finally I gave up. However, when she got a piece of charcoal mixed with sand, I decided it was time to pack it up. She was oozing black out of her mouth and it got all over her clothes. Over the next few days, the more she was around sand, the more she loved it. On our last day in Carmel, when she saw the sand, she tried to squirm out of my arms. By that point, she knew what sand was and she wanted to be in it. But hey, at least I didn't have to worry about packing her a lunch :)

Steve had to fly to New York for business while we were in California. When he came back, he took a day off to spend with the family. We went to Pt. Lobos because I know how much he loves wildlife. It was perfect. There were plenty of seals and otters. After, we went to dinner in Moss Landing. We passed a couple of sea otters on the side of the road. Steve slammed on the brakes and went to get a closer look. He recorded the sea otter making a run for it. Basically, Steve got too close and the otter got in the water. It was the highlight of Steve's trip. I think Steve missed his calling in life. He should have been a marine biologist.

So that is it for now. I'm sure a lot more happened, but it's been too long and I can't remember!
