Halloween

Halloween always comes, every year. No matter what I do, kids want to dress up and carve pumpkins and go trick-or-treating (or to parties). This year, Steve was in India on Halloween. So the pumpkin carving was left to me. Lucky for me, my neighbor invited us over, so I didn't have to do a lot of clean up. However, there were still pumpkin guts to be pulled out. I informed the kids before carving day, that Dad would be gone so if they wanted a pumpkin, they had to clean it out themselves (except for Leah). Three of the six opted to paint their pumpkins. I helped Leah. Sam and Max pulled out their own guts and carved their own. This picture is of George and Max. They wouldn't wait for pics with the sisters cuz they needed to start trick-or-treating right away. And I must say, their enthusiasm worked this year. They left at six and came home at nine, with pillowcases half full.
Leah wanted to be 'Tangled (Rapunzel).' She wore the wig for pictures and then decided her own hair was long enough. Leah trick-or-treated for seven houses, then was super scared and told me she just wanted to trick-or-treat at our house. Lucky we had plenty of candy!
Here is a picture of the three girls. Maddie is in the background. She went as Napoleon Dynamite with long hair. She wanted to do it in a fro, but couldn't figure out how. Cara wanted to wear this ball gown obtained from Aunt Julie for the occasion. She had no definite answer for who she was, but she was beautiful! She loved it so much at the end of the night after her party, she didn't want to take it off.

Sam stayed home and helped me pass out candy. He thought of scaring trick-or-treaters, but then decided against it after seeing how scared Leah was. All I know is, we survived another year!
