Mr. Kindergartener's First Day, Too Cool to Look at Me
So Max has now started Kindergarten. It has been a completely different experience than preschool. First of all, he actually looked forward to it. On his first day, I informed him that a neighbor would be bringing him to school and a different neighbor would be bringing him home. He said, "'Kay," without even flinching. No tears upon departure, just a quick run to the neighbor's car. And he thought it ridiculous that I wanted to take a picture to document the occasion.
He came home the first day ready to report. He said, "There's this really cool Chinese kid in my class." I said, "What's his name?" Max said, "I don't know, but he's really cool." So I asked him how he knew he was cool. He replied, "Because another boy told me he was."
He also told me that Kindergarten was too easy and he already knew all that stuff.
A few days later he came home and informed me he knew the name of the really cool Chinese kid. Max said,"Luisito," with pride. Upon hearing his name I asked, "Max, are you sure he is not hispanic? That name does not sound Chinese." He said, "He speaks Chinese." I said, "How do you know?" Max responded, "Another boy told me he does." I tried to tell Max that possibly the other boy did not know what he was talking about, but Max would have none of it. So all I know is that there is a really cool Chinese boy named Luisito in Max's class, who can possibly speak Chinese that upon hearing, sounds exactly like Spanish.
Now I wonder what the name of "another boy" is?
