Almost a Dad

This morning I commented to Max that he was almost as tan as me. He immediately took this to mean, 'almost as big as me.' He smiled and said, "Yep. And I'm almost as big as Cara, too. I'm almost a Dad and I'm only 4 1/2." 

"So you are almost as big as Cara?" 

"Yep." Then he glanced at the toys he was playing with and his proud smile faltered slightly. "I'm almost a Dad but I still play with toys."

I replied, "That's okay. Dads still play with toys too. Like golf and electronic stuff, and blackberries."

Max looked at the Diego toy in his hands and said, "Yah, but not Diegos."
